site-above or below ground; straight or curved. On water tanks,
chimneys, antennas, communication towers, wind generators, drilling
rigs, ships' masts or any other structure Saf-T-Climb rigid rail fall
prevention systems give climbers, the protection and security they need
to be effective and productive. Because the Saf-T-Climb system has
over 40 years of safe climbing experience and is so easy to use, workers
use it! Saf-T-Climb is frequently the specified rigid rail ladder safety
device used by industry and government.
The Saf-T-Climb® fall prevention
system is easily
retrofitted to existing ladders or designed into new construction.
Installation of a Saf-T-Climb fall prevention system means instant

Saf-T-Notch Carrier
Rail
The Saf-T-Notch Carrier
Rail is a rigid notched rail which attaches to any ladder or
climbing surface.Once installed, the rail becomes an
integral part of the ladder or structure. Saf-T-Notch Rail absorbs
the impact load of 500 lbs in an 18" free fall, and is notched to
provide a positive stop to control the distance a climber can fall.
Saf-T-Notch Carrier Rail fits your requirements! It is available in
a variety of materials to match your needs and environmental
conditions: Galvanized; Types 304L or 316L Stainless Steel and

Saf-T-Y-Lanyard

The North Y-lanyard is an energy
absorbing component which can be used in a variety of configuration
to make a “shock absorbing” lanyard to suit your needs. The
Y-lanyard gives the user 100% tie when they are climbing ladders or
have to transverse around an obstruction. The controlled tearing
action of the soft pak has been proven again and again over the
years of service to limit the energy of a fall to less than 900lbs
(4 kN). Engineered and tested for reliability, the soft pak provides
peace of mind. Soft pak is engineered to meets or exceed the
performance criteria set by ANSI OSHA and CSA for energy absorbers.

Saf-T-Lanyard

The Saf-T-Lanyard allows a worker to attach to the structure, ladder
rungs, stringers, or other suitable anchor points, when detached
from the security of the Saf-T-Climb equipment. It can also be used
to aid in rescuing a worker who is unconscious or disabled during a
down-hole climb. When the lanyard is attached to the Saf-T-Climb
Harness, a worker can be pulled to safety. The lanyard is made of
5/8" diameter nylon rope with double-locking snap hooks at each end.
It is a shock absorbing device which allows for gradual
deceleration, reducing shock loads to below 4 kn as required by OSHA
1910.66 appendix "C", ANSI Z359.1-1992 and CSA Z259.11-m92.
Deceleration during a fall is provided by tear stitch type webbing.
The lanyard can be adjusted in length from 36" to 72". This device
cannot be reused once a fall has occurred. The lanyard also meets
the requirements of OSHA 1915 and 1926.

Saf-T-Climb Harness

With an integrated belt, The Saf-T-Climb
Harness (for ANSI Type III systems) is designed to distribute the
impact forces of a fall over the thighs, buttocks, chest and
shoulders. The harness is designed to perform optimally with the Saf-T-Climb
fall prevention system. The harness, constructed of woven nylon,
features forged steel buckles, front and back "D" rings, sliding
shoulder rings and adjustable padded straps. The Harness Combo meets
CSA Z259.10-M90, Z259.1-95 and ANSI Z359.1-1992(R1999), A10.14-1991.

Saf-T-Pivot Dismount
Section
The Saf-T-Pivot dismount section
dramatically reduces the danger workers encounter when dismounting
at the top of a ladder. It is designed to extend 4' 6" above floor
level. The climber can rotate completely around the rail in order to
gain safe footing BEFORE detaching from the system. The sleeve can
then be removed from the top of the rail if desired. Standard
dismount sections are a minimum of 8', but longer custom lengths are
available; call the factory for details. Recommended for every
installation where a worker dismounts at the top of a climb.
Removable Pivots available for climbs with Hatches.
|

|
Saf-T-Mount Section
The Saf-T-Mount section is a unique
device that allows the climber to dismount from the Saf-T-Climb
system at predetermined points along the climb without jeopardizing
safety. The worker may pivot 90° from the climb onto a platform or
other safe work area before detaching from the system. The Sleeve
can then be removed from the rail so that the climber may continue
the climb on another ladder or other workers may pass on the same
ladder. For maximum safety, before dismounting or remounting, the
climber should be secured by a lanyard to a suitable anchor point.
The Saf-T-Mount section is designed for permanent installation
within the Saf-T-Notch rail at any desired point and must be
included when the system is originally installed. Saf-T-Mount
Sections are not required at the beginning or the end of a climb.
The Saf-T-Mount Section can be used
in a variety of work situations. Examples include: work sites where
more than one climber is required to work at different levels of the
some climb; above water where the surface level may change;
installed at intervals on climbs within chimneys where manlifts are
used to allow access to the carrier rail for emergency exits; in the
grain storage industry where emergency escape from silos and storage
bins may be required. The Saf-T-Mount Section is 9" long replacing
6" of rail. It is available in Galvanized, Stainless Steel or
Aluminum.

Saf-T-Pivot
Rest Piece
The Saf-T-Pivot Rest Piece allows the
climber to turn 90° in order to stand safely on a rest platform. The
sleeve will rotate on the rail, but cannot be disengaged. This
provides for the climber's safety while gaining safe footing on the
platform. The Saf-T-Pivot Rest Piece is especially useful on very long
climbs, where platforms are provided for rest only. The 3' long Rest
Piece must be installed with the original equipment.

Removable Extension
Kit
The
Saf-T-Notch Removable Extension is installed on ladders used to
descend to lower levels or to ascend upwards through a hatch where
permanent installation of an extension is undesirable. The kit extends
the Saf-T-Notch Rail above the ground or roof level and allows the
climber to attach to the Saf-T-Climb system before descending, or to
remain attached to the system after ascending through a hatch. This
insures the climber's continued safety when mounting or dismounting
the ladder. When not in use, the extension can be removed so a manhole
cover, hatch or grate can be replaced over the opening.
Removable Extension Kits come in
Galvanized, Stainless Steel or Aluminum and can be ordered in two
lengths for ease of use in either downhole climbs or uphole climbs.
The Removable Extension rail for a is 4'6" long. The Rail for an
uphole climb is 3'6" long.
Extension Kit components:
- Standard Saf-T-Notch rail:
4-1/2' length (or 3-1/2' for uphole climbs) with top 2' of guide
channel removed to permit Saf-T-Lok Sleeve to turn 360°.
- Tie Down Rod with either
standard top knob or Quick Release: Assembly with rod threaded at
bottom to attach to the Mandril.
- Mandril: Permanently
installed 6" inside of the top section of the Saf-T-Notch
rail. Solid bar machined on both ends, drilled and tapped at the
top, to accept the Tie Down Rod. Secured in place with two cap
screws.
Use of one extension rail at multiple
sites will require the permanent installation of a Mandril on each
ladder.
Removable Extension
Kits With Quick Release Tie-Down Rods
This
time-saving feature facilitates the use of the Removable Extension Kit
by several climbers who may be working at the same job site together,
but who need to get on and off the same ladder at different times. The
Quick Release Feature for Removable Extension Kits (as shown in the
inset at right) replaces the knob at the top of the Tie-Down Rod. The
device will allow easy mounting and dismounting of the Saf-T-Lok
Sleeve onto the Extension Carrier Rail by multiple climbers on the
same climb during the same work session. The spring-loaded lever
pushes out of the way into the machined cavity in the device. Once the
lever has been disengaged in this manner, the Sleeve will easily slip
on or off the Extension Rail without the removal of the Tie-down Rod.
When the pin is "at rest" (or fully extended) it will
prevent the Sleeve from accidentally slipping off of the Extension
Rail by itself.
The Removable Extension Rail and Tie
Down Rod are portable and can be used on any ladder where a Mandril
has been permanently installed. To use, slide the Saf-T-Lok Sleeve
onto the Removable Extension Rail and place the rail over the Mandril
on the ladder. Removable rail is secured to the ladder by tightening
the threaded Tie Down Rod into the Mandril. The Saf-T-Lok Sleeve is
then attached to the climber's Saf-T-Climb Harness while both feet
are firmly planted on a solid surface. The climber pivots into
position on the ladder, ready for descent, using the Removable
Extension Rail as a safety hand hold.
