ANOTEC High Silicon Cast Iron
Stick Anodes

Product Description

Composition, ASTM A518
     Grade 3

Silicon 14.20 - 14.75%
Chromium 3.25 - 5.00%
Manganese 1.50% max
Carbon 0.70 -1 .10%
Copper 0.50% max
Molybdenum 0.20% max

"Chill Cast" in Metal Molds
Assures consistent weight, greater density, less flake graphite grain boundary, and lower chemical segregation than Sand Cast Anodes. The ANOTEC Chill Cast structure is similar to "Spin Cast" Tubular Anodes.

More than Twice as Strong
Independent laboratory tests confirm that Anotec Anodes withstand drop impact tests to more than twice the height of Sand Cast Anodes.

Quality Control
Chemistry, weight, impact strength and connection cavity integrity verified for each production lot in accordance with "Specification for High Silicon Chrome Stick Anodes" available from Anotec.

Performance
Accelerated Corrosion Tests confirm that Anotec Chill Cast anodes perform significantly better (up to 19%) than Sand Cast anodes in chloride and sulfate environments. Test reports available on request.

Spherical Tip
Prevents hang-up when lowering into deep wells.

Typical ANOTEC Anode Cross Section

A dense skin of minute columnar grains and a dense core of equiaxial grains. Occasionally, very fine interdendritic porosity at center. Predominantly spheroidal shaped graphite. Similar to the structure of vacuum refined High Silicon Iron.

Typical Cross Section of a Conventional Sand Cast Anode

Skin of nonporous equiaxial grains. Remaining section relatively porous from interdendritic shrinkage and porosity. Predominantly flake graphite with larger boundary areas than equivalent spheroidal graphite.

CONNECTION OPTIONS

Style 1 (Pin)
Pin and Socket Type (Shown with Epoxy Cap)

Anotec Anodes are supplied with matching tapered steel pins. When installed as instructed, the pin connection exceeds the tensile strength of the copper lead wire:

  • #4 AWG/7wire - 1300 lb (590 kg) force
  • #8 AWG/7wire - 400 lb (181 kg) force. Cable to anode resistance: less than 0.0030 Ohms.

Style 2 (Lead)
Leaded Connection (Shown with Potting Compound and Heat Shrink PE Cap)

Anotec bell-bottomed cavity is shaped for optimum security of lead, potting compound and strain relief grommet. Like the Pin and Socket Connection, Anotec's Leaded Connection is suitable for Epoxy or Heat Shrink Caps to seal out moisture.
