| Features
The new Cygnus 2 is the smallest,
lightest and most durable through-coating thickness gauge available.
It is imple to use – just turn on and go! Perfect for use on flat
surfaces or pipes. The Cygnus multiple-echo, single-crystal probe
technology means you can measure through thick coatings, and only
the remaining metal thickness is displayed.
- Light, rugged, small
- Single crystal probe to ensure
accurate measurements on curved and heavily corroded back walls.
- Probe membrane to protect the
probe and keep cost of ownership extremely low.
- Rugged construction - shock
proof- environmentally scaled.
- Stable calibration - linear
accuracy - no zero adjustment.
- Self-verification of the
measurements to ensure accuracy.
- Choice of probe options.
- Selectable probe frequency.
Displays sound velocity settings.
- Echo strength indicator to aid
measurement.
- Calibration to a known thickness
or a known velocity of sound.
- Bright LED display with
polarized filter.
- Low battery warning/
- Metric / Imperial switchable.

Benefits
- Multiple-echo, single-crystal
ultrasonic thickness gauge.
- Coatings
do not have to be removed - measures only the metal thickness.
- Accepted by major classification
societies.
- No grinding - minimum surface
preparation.
- Measures on rough corroded
surfaces.
- Speed, accuracy and reliability.
- No false readings - repeatable
results.
- Easy to use - minimum operator
training.
- Greatly reduced inspection time
and cost.
- Measures on metals and some
other materials.

Cygnus
Multiple Echo Technology
With
multiple echo technology, readings are taken by
measuring the time delay between any three consecutive
backwall echoes. The time T1 (for coating thickness) is
ignored. The times T2 and T3 are equal to the time that
it takes for sound to travel through the metal. Only by
looking at three echoes can the measurements be made for
the metal thickness, where T2 = T3. |
