4 General Purpose | Cygnus Mini ROV |
Cygnus Dedicated ROV

Applications
- Designed to mount onto small
inspection ROV's.
- Metal thickness and corrosion
checks on offshore structures, ships and wrecks.
- Safety corrosion monitoring of
pipelines and storage vessels.
- Metal thickness / wear checks on
jetties, dock gates, piers and pilings.
- Ships classification surveys.
- Maintenance and safety checks on
bridges.
|
Advantages
- Multiple echo, single crystal probes.
- Coatings do not have to be removed -
measures only the metal thickness.
- Accepted by major classification
societies.
- No grinding - minimum surface prep.
- Measures on rough corroded surfaces.
- Speed, accuracy and reliability.
- No false readings - repeatable
results.
- Easy to use - minimum operator
training.
- Greatly reduced inspection time and
cost.
- Measures on metals and some other
materials.
|

Features
- Pressure tested to 500 m (1,640 ft).
- Optional dedicated probe holder to
allow measurements on curved or flat surfaces.
- Small, lightweight and easy to
install.
- Only one twisted pair is required to
transfer the data to the surface.
- Power supply taken locally from the
ROV.
- Probe does not need to touch the
surface under test -- measurements can be taken through 5 mm of water.
- Readings are not influenced by probe
orientation.
- Dedicated software for displaying the
measured results, storing the measurements and setting the calibration
of the gauge.

Multiple Echo Technology
With
multiple echo technology, readings are taken by
measuring the time delay between any three consecutive
backwall echoes. The time T1 (for coating thickness) is
ignored. The times T2 and T3 are equal to the time that
it takes for sound to travel through the metal. Only by
looking at three echoes can the measurements be made for
the metal thickness, where T2 = T3. |
