Model WFA-1
Wave Form Analyzer
by MC Miller Co.

An economical and easy-to-use instrument for
removing
soil IR drop from pipe-to-soil potential measurements.

Advantages
Compared with techniques currently used for determining OFF
(IR drop free) potentials, the WaveForm Analyzer / Pulse Generator (WFA/PG) system offers
the following advantages:
- More accurate potential measurements
- Consistent IR drop interpretation
- Simple automatic operation
- Compact and lightweight
- Reliable under various pipeline
conditions
- Lower cost
- Standard autoranging DC and AC
voltmeter capability
General Information
The MC Miller WaveForm Analyzer / Pulse Generator utilizes
state of the art computer technology to provide the corrosion engineer with an economical
and easy to use instrument for removing the soil IR drop from pipe-to-soil potential
measurements. The WaveForm Analyzer is a microprocessor based hand-held digital voltmeter
which operates in the WaveForm Analyzer mode, as well as an AC or DC voltmeter mode. When
taking readings in the WaveForm Analyzer mode, a liquid crystal display shows the
"ON" potential (including the IR drop), and the "OFF" (zero current)
or IR drop free potential. The system works on all structures using impressed current
cathodic protection systems including natural gas distribution and transmission pipelines,
oil pipelines, steel-reinforced concrete structures, underground steel tanks, water piping
systems, electric power generating plants and industrial facilities.

Specifications
- WFA Mode: Displays the ON and OFF (soil IR
drop removed) potential in. Three voltage ranges: 0-3.0 volt (1 millivolt resolution),
0-30 volt (10 millivolt resolution) and 0-300 volt ( 100 millivolt resolution). Requires
Pulse Generators installed on all rectifiers influencing readings.
- DC Mode: Functions as an autoranging DC
voltmeter with three ranges: 0-3.0 volt (1 millivolt resolution), 0-30 volt (10 millivolt
resolution) and 0-300 volt (100 millivolt resolution).
- AC Mode: Functions as an autoranging AC
voltmeter measuring the RMS voltage on the input waveform. Three voltage ranges: 0-3.0
volt (1 millivolt resolution), 0-30 volt (10 millivolt resolution) and 0-300 volt ( 100
millivolt resolution).
- Polarity: Automatic in DC & AC mode
with negative symbol displayed and positive assumed. In the WFA mode, the negative input
must be connected to the structure and the positive to the reference cell.
- Input Resistance: 10 Megohm input
resistance, all modes.
- Battery: 9 volt alkaline battery.
- Size: 6-1/8" x 3-518" x
1-3/4"
- Weight: 14 oz. approx.
