SUMMARY: Design, troubleshoot, maintain, inspect, repair and survey cathodic protection systems used to prevent corrosion on a variety of metallic structures including pipelines, storage tanks, oil field vessels, marine structures and similar from corrosion. The applicant must be qualified for these duties in compliance with industry standards and testing methodologies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, the Corrosion Engineer may be expected to perform some or all of the duties listed below as well as other duties as assigned.
Primary Responsibilities
Must comply with DOT and OSHA health, safety and environmental requirements and follow safety philosophy and procedures developed by the Company. These include applicable environmental, health and safety rules, procedures, and accepted safe work practices, the use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems, and the reporting of workplace hazards and injury or illness arising from workplace activities. Must also observe the workplace environment to identify conditions or behaviors that should be corrected and then take appropriate action.
Actively engage in safe behavior and understand and follow the principles and methods related to pipeline and workplace safety as established by the Company.
Conduct or coordinate cathodic protection system testing, surveys, field inspections, interference testing, cathodic protection failure
Perform or coordinate maintenance on existing cathodic protection systems by energizing, testing, adjusting, and troubleshooting all related equipment.
Make technical recommendations regarding cathodic protection systems, procedures, requirements and similar to assist clients to improve cathodic protection system operation and/or techniques.
Prepare written reports for the purpose of recommending changes to the clients current cathodic protection standards, procedures, practices, or documentation based on data analysis and inspection findings.
Design impressed current and/or sacrificial cathodic protection systems for new and existing facilities or structures by preparing engineering drawings and material specifications.
Respond to client proposal requests and prepare written proposals in response to request. Assist in the preparation of "bid packets" for larger project requests.
Review client contracts, MSA's and work orders as required.
Provide "on-the-job" training programs for workforce under supervision.
Perform other duties as assigned or required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge
Cathodic protection and corrosion prevention industry standards, procedures, methodologies, materials, and equipment.
Knowledge of emergency and safety procedures, policies, equipment operating parameters, and all applicable DOT, EPA, FERC, DHS and OSHA requirements and following various pipeline procedures.
Work Skills
Applicant is required to operate a variety of cathodic protection and related instrumentation including multimeters, line locators, insulator testers, soil resistivity meters, current interrupters, data recorders, survey equipment and other similar cathodic protection instrumentation.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
Interpersonal skills to coordinate work and exchange information.
Oversight of project personnel and subcontractors.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The position requires frequent lifting, carrying, stooping, kneeling, walking, climbing and crouching during inspection and testing and of cathodic protection systems.
The duties of this position are primarily performed in an outdoor setting with frequent exposure to external weather and electrical hazards.
Must be able to travel as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline
Five years work experience in the cathodic protection field conducting cathodic protection designs, inspections, surveys, testing, and similar.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
NACE CP Level III Certification or higher required.
