Redhead & Bluehead Heater Treater Anode Mounting Heads by Farwest Corrosion

One-piece, high-temperature, flame-retarding, high compression molded fiberglass anode mounting heads

The REDHEAD®

Built for maximum life in even the harshest of environments, the Redhead® is designed with four integral ribs that insure easy installation, optimal internal alignment and maximum anode stability.

  • The Redhead® is designed with four integral support ribs for skids for easy installation, proper alignment and superior in-flow anode stability.
  • Installs in standard 4-inch (100 mm) Schedule 40 fittings with standard grooved with Victaulic* couplings.
  • Effectively supports anodes of up to 3inch (76 mm) diameter with a maximum length of 60 inches (1.52 m).
  • Over 15 years of proven service in the field.

The BLUEHEAD ®

Built to the same exacting standards as the Redhead®, the Bluehead® is engineered to withstand the most severe of heater treater environments. Four integral stabilization ribs make for fast and easy installation, optimal alignment and maximum anode stability.

  • The Bluehead® is designed for mounting in (4") four inch (100 mm), Schedule 80 fittings with standard grooved Victaulic* couplings.
  • Effectively supports anodes of up to 3 inch (76 mm) diameter with a maximum length of 60 inches (1.52 m).

General Assembly Instructions

Parts Required for Graphite Anodes

1 Anode, 3” (7.5 cm) maximum diameter
1 RED HEAD or BLUE HEAD
1 ¾” Std. Thread Stud, Cad Plated
1 ¾“ Std. Thread Half-Nut, Cad Plated
1 ¾“ Std. Thread Nut, Cad Plated
1 ¾“ Flat Washer, Cad Plated
Approx. 6 oz (170 gm) hi-temp epoxy or polyester based adhesive mixed to a heavy paste-like consistency.

Installation

  1. Before mixing adhesive, slide Red Head over anode. Do not use force. Red Head should slide smoothly over anode with about 1/32” (0.5-1.0 mm) annular clearance. If Red Head fits tight check anode for rough spots and machine or file as necessary to assure proper fit.
  2. Drill and tap anode approx. 6” (15.5 cm) deep for ¾“ stud. Note: Anode should be impregnated with proper linseed oil at least 24 hours prior to mounting of Red Head.
  3. Screw ¾“ stud tightly into anode. Run half-nut down onto stud.
  4. With acetone, clean stud, nut and anode down approx. 7” (18 cm) from top.
  5. Mix adhesive and apply thin coat onto diameter of anode down approx. 7” (18 cm) from the top. Then apply ¾“ (2 cm) thick amount of adhesive to the top of the anode. Slide Red Head over stud and anode.
  6. Install flat washer and nut and tighten. This will force adhesive down and around anode and also up and around stud and flat washer.
  7. Allow sufficient time for adhesive to cure, then pressure test complete unit with at least 80 psi water pressure.
