LEADING THE CHARGE

CORROSION CONTROL & CATHODIC PROTECTION SOLUTIONS

Summer's Coming. Corrosion Doesn't Take a Season Off.

Summer is around the corner and while the weather shifts above ground, what’s happening beneath the surface never stops. Changing soil conditions can influence corrosion activity and CP performance, which is why now is a good time for a quick check-in. In this issue of the Farwest Current: a new Expert Tip, Waterworks + ACE26 updates, a Houston location move, a new off-grid power partnership and an anode inventory spotlight.

Expert Tip: Converting a Conventional Rectifier to a "Hybrid Stack"

Interrupted CP testing is the norm, but many conventional tap-controlled rectifiers weren’t built for clean, repeatable interruption. This tip walks through a practical upgrade path (rather than temporary heavy cabling), so your interrupted survey results reflect true operating conditions.

Key Takeaways:

  • Why portable interruption can skew data
  • The two common interruption methods and their headaches
  • What a “Hybrid Stack” is (in plain English)
  • Where it fits and why it’s cost-effective.

Waterworks + ACE 2026 (AWWA)

Expertise for Water & Wastewater Infrastructure

Farwest’s Waterworks team - led by Miles Steele and Juan Carlos Mendoza - is focused on the real-world corrosion challenges in water and wastewater infrastructure, from tanks and buried assets to complex sites where performance and reliability matter.

We’ll be exhibiting at AWWA's ACE26, June 21 - 25 in Washington, D.C., and we’re especially excited that Gary Graham, Director of Engineering, will be speaking on “Best Practices for Cathodic Protection for Water” on June 22nd.

Look for us at Booth #3244 and let's talk Water!

New Partnership: Global Power Technologies for Off-Grid CP Power

We are pleased to announce that we have partnered with Global Power Technologies (GPT) to expand remote or off-grid cathodic protection power options for our customers.

GPT’s thermoelectric generators (TEGs) can provide continuous DC power for ICCP without requiring a rectifier, and the MX platform (pictured) can supply AC power to a CP rectifier or provide DC power directly to a CP system, depending on the application.

Gulf Coast Regional Office Update: New (Larger) Location

Our Houston team has moved into a larger facility - same phone number, same people, same contacts, just more room to support customers and inventory.

New address:14041 Chrisman Road, Houston, TX 77039

Same phone number: (281) 446-9558

Leadership Updates

John Rettig has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer

Over the last six years at Farwest, John has led regional operations, served as VP of Engineering, and most recently as VP of Services, overseeing Engineering and Construction. Prior to joining Farwest, his cathodic protection experience included supporting federal/DoD and water utility work.

In his role as COO, John will continue to help drive safe, consistent execution as we support customers across our growing footprint.

Laura Bauer has been promoted to Director of Key Accounts - East

Over the last 15+ years, Laura has led the Farwest team in the Northeast. From Regional Manager, Strategic Relations and Key Account Principal, Laura has focused on providing the right solutions for Farwest customers.

In her role as Director of Key Accounts - East, Laura will be Farwest's senior point of contact for our Key Accounts located on the East Coast.

Anodes: The Backbone of Every CP System

Anodes are the workhorses behind cathodic protection - whether you’re designing a new system, replacing aging components or troubleshooting performance.

Farwest stocks a wide range of anode materials and configurations, including magnesium, aluminum, zinc, high silicon cast iron, MMO and graphite - because the “right” anode depends on environment, current demand, design life and installation constraints.

If you’re not sure which anode fits your application, we can help match the anode to your system (and keep your project moving with inventory on hand).

Committed to Safety: In the Field and at Every Facility

Safety isn’t just policy - it’s part of the Farwest culture.

We work diligently to maintain safe conditions across all job sites and facilities through proactive reporting, regular training and technology-driven improvements.

Farwest remains committed to advancing safety practices across every level of our operations because protecting people always comes first.
